Dating actor at napapanood dati sa ABS-CBN’s Ang Tv ang panganay na anak nina Tirso Cruz III at Lyn Ynchausti na si Teejay Cruz ay pumanaw na ngayong araw sa edad na 37. Today began and ended with events that relate to life’s endings. But as a grief coach, I know now more than ever, that death is really but a portal to new beginnings for those left behind. In the morning we graduated 12 newly bereaved ladies from the Good Grief workshop sponsored by Forest Lake. There is no greater reward than seeing these women find their smiles and their hope once more.
Tonight, I sat with my mother at the eulogy for Teejay Cruz, and listened to his dad, Pipo, deliver a moving message honoring his eldest son. In his eulogy, he spoke about asking the Lord what would be the best way for him to grieve and remember his son. “I found the answer in the lyrics of Basil Valdez’s “Let The Pain Remain” he said, “My wife had been humming it to Teejay during his last days, and though I knew the melody well, it was when I thought of the song’s lyrics that helped me set the tone in how I will choose to remember Teejay for the remainder of my days.”
I was very much encouraged by his outlook on pain and loss because it is very true — that it is only by embracing our pain, and mourning our losses openly, can we ever truly hope to heal.
